Hi

I recently started using gdesklets and I noticed that when I start X, python uses ~6% of my memory and after two days it is already at ~30% (that is about 150MB of my total 512MB)

Anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix?

Regards
Spector

there seems to be a memory leak in python...
and after some searching I have found "python eats your memory, live with it"

This is unacceptable

There must be a fix!?
It just keeps growing until it eats all the ram! No one cares about this?

What version of python are you running? I'm running python-2.4.2-r1 and I never see that kind of memory usage from python. (Java, on the other hand...)

I don't use gdesklets, but I do use deskbar-applet which loads with my Gnome session and stays resident (and in constant use) all the time I'm working. I also have a couple of other python programs I use regularly. I'm often logged in for days at a time. I would think that if there was a memory leak in 2.4.2 I would run into it.

It is probably the program (gdesklets) that is responsible for the memory leak, and not the Python interpreter it self.

And you haven't been running into any memory leaks? There must be some mistake.

Anyway, I'm glad it's being useful.
