ho istallato una scheda pci che funge da hub usb.
Ho inserito inizialmente un hard disk, e mi sono sccorto di una esagerata lentezza. Cioe' sono riuscito a montarlo, ma solo il mount ha richiesto circa 10 minuti!!
ho provato a dare hdparm:

poi ho provato con una penna usb, ma anche questa ha lo stesso problema.

le porte USB dovrebbero essere 2 integrate nella scheda madre, di cui solo una funzionante, e altre 5 del mio hub usb, e queste 5 sono USB2.0
Cosa posso fare? e' forse un problema di kernel?

EDIT: la scheda sembra essere riconosciuta, così come i dispositivi, ma ci sono problemi di I/O per file di medie e grandi dimensioni.

circa un mesetto fa ho comprato anche io una scheda pci con 5 porte usb 2.0 della trust, ma nemmeno io sono riuscito a farla funzionare in modo decente! non so se è per colpa del mio pc che è troppo vecchio (athlon 900) oppure sono i drivers che fanno cacare...

la più probabile. comprare hardware trust significa risparmiare a scapito della qualità, e buttare davvero i soldi nel cesso...
è possibile scoprire esattamente quale controller monta? |

è un controller VIA. Il problema è che non ho la possibilità di provarla con windows per cui non posso escludere i problemi hw.. (e pare che nemmeno deneb ce l'abbia..)

ok, ma quale controller? quello che si vede in lspci è il nome generico, non il modello specifico |

riscrivo a questo topic perchè non ho ancora risolto, e sinceramente mi sembra che il problema sia strano. ho rimontato la scheda pci, con un kernel 2.6.15.6 ..ho pensato, magari ora funziona... ho inserito la mia penna usb, e la monto, tutto sembra funzionare, esploro le cartelle con discreta velocità, poi mi viene in mente di provare acopiare un file...ed ecco che mi si presenta l'errore:

ho fatto un po di prove ed ho notato che posso fare solo piccoli trasferimanti di dati, cioè non ho avuto problemi a creare un file sulla penna usb, a scriverci un paio di righe, di rileggerlo, e sono riuscito poi a trasferirlo da penna usb a pc. Già per un file di 170k mi dà l'errore che ho scritto in precedenza, sia se provo a leggerlo che se provo a trasferirlo.
Sembrerebbe quasi un problema si sincronizzazione.
