Hello there,

fresh install of gentoo, emacs and the ruby-mode for emacs. There is an error, when I'm trying to use 'M-x ruby-encomment-region':
Quote:
Autoloading failed to define function ruby-encomment-region

It is not a problem of loading the Ruby mode, I have many other ruby commands available and most importantly working (such as 'ruby-uncomment-region'). What I've noticed is that ruby-encomment-region is just a symbol for comment-region. When I try 'comment-region' I successfully get commented out (ruby) source code.
So what vital part of "autoload" am I missing here? Or can't symbols be used for autoload-functions? What seems even stranger is that after using 'comment-region' (which produces 'Loading newcomment...done') I still can't use 'ruby-encomment-region'.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
geta

Forgot the versions: emacs-21.4-r1 and ruby-mode-1.8.2

I don't think you're meant to use ruby-encomment-region directly - its for internal use only.
