Thanks yet again for you advice. I am running 2.12 and now that I am running xorg 7.0, and more specifically Xgl, my window list applet is gone, and desktop switcher.
So when I minimize stuff it goes into the murky abyss never to be seen again... So as long as I don't minimize things, I am good to go.
On your advice, I will brave the 2.14 build and thank you yet again for the important tip.
so do I just add gnome to the keyword file and I am good to go?
Thanks.
I am not really that technical at all, so I depend on the extraordinarily easy to understand advice I have recieved from people like yourself.
Have a great night.

This might also be the "miniwin" plugin. I think it's great but it seems too buggy and totally made my window list screwy. Just disable it in the gconf editor (remove "miniwin" from the apps->compiz->general->allscreens->options->active_plugins list).
For gnome, you'll have to look at the thread, I forget how to do it! Good luck. |

When install xgl-coffee everything emerges with no errors, only I do not get a binary for Xgl... or one is not installed. Am I missing something?
Thx.

Wow, I am on a patch making/ebuild editing frenzy today! I should probably be reading history... but this is more fun.
I've made a patch that adds the ability to modify the time between raindrops using gconf. I also made a convenient modification to the compiz-0.0.7_p20060404.ebuild for those who want to try it out. I am going to send the patch to the compiz mailing-list too.
To install the ebuild: Code: | cp compiz-raindelay.tar.gz /usr/local/xgl-coffee
cd /usr/local/xgl-coffee
tar -zxvf compiz-raindelay.tar.gz
emerge -av compiz |
Then, as a normal user, re-run compizrc.
I couldn't get it to build outside of the tree, so I did it this way because it's easier and ultimately more useful. I really want to make a plugin that has a little shark fin swimming around the desktop making little ripples, maybe circling the mouse cursor when the cursor is at rest :) I think it better wait until after april though!
Suggestions for raindrop times: 10000 (every 10 seconds), 60000 (every minute), 300000 (every 5 minutes). Default is now 1000 (every second) instead of 250 (4/second). |

Xgl went in good. Having problems with alot of the Gnome applets. Does anyone know a work around for this? Like WindowList etc?
[Edit]
Not sure if this will solve the problem for anyone else that is having that issue. but I did have both Window List applet and the Window Selector applet loaded. Once I removed the Window Selector all the other applets that were not working are now working, and I am not using GDM so its not a GDM dep bug as suggested a few posts back.

star.dancer,
Not only do you have pretty shoes but your brilliant as well....LOL
I just merged your water ebuild and it works great.
Very cool work. You rock.
I do preffer the slow rain drop effect more than the waves.
Now if we can just get a right click on desktop application menu plugin
i won't miss FVWM. Like the screenshots here.

And on that happy note, it looks like it's time to start a new thread (less than a month after this one was started ).
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present the imaginatively titled XGL (Part 4)! _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
