With it loaded then you can add the other plugins in gconf-editor, then logout-login
Make sure to add plugins in proper order as per HOWTO.
Then you can uncheck these two
/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/autoraise "uncheck"
/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/click_to_focus "uncheck"
Also keep in mind, putting the plugins in gconf-editor overides
command line plugin placement |
I figured out what I was doing wrong with gconf. I hadn't specified the list as a list. I had one long string. Anyway, it's only doing half of what I want. Focus follows the mouse pointer (the click_to_focus option), but windows still raise when I click them. The autoraise option toggles a behavior where if a window is in focus for long enough, it gets brought to the top. |

Think this is cool? Wait till you setup the animated skydome,
then you will really think this is freaking cool.
sorry can't help with your sticky problem |
Sorry guy's.... A lot of posts to search thru here. I wasn't able to find out what this animated skydome is? Anybody else know? |

With animated skydome on, the picture on the skydome moves with the cube.
Otherwise it's stationary.
Here it is with animated_skydome off, the picture never changes when you move the cube.
Here is a shot, from roughly the same position with animated_skydome on, and here from a spot rotated a bit. |

Where can I raise bug or suggestion of compiz?
I think opaquefocus plugin has a problem, when mouse move to a flash on web page,
it takes the flash window as a standardalone window. |

That's cool!
I tried XGL about a month ago, and it worked great even then, except it crashed every couple of hours. But it seemsthings have come a long way since then. Back then I couldn't get it to work with my GeForce 6200, but It worked fine on my Radeon 9800 Pro. Seems they got the problems with the video cards worked out. And the added a bunch more eyecandy.
I can't wait for poeple with better creative minds to make plugins for Compiz so we can really see what this thing is capable of.
Seems like if this keeps coming along at the pace it is now, we may see a stable launch by this fall. What do you guys think? |

I believe thats been fixed in compiz-0.0.7_p20060322-r3
I have it keyworded -* temporarily till I test it, feel free to give it a whirl ( echo "x11-wm/compiz -*" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords ) _________________ HP Pavilion zd7260us

For all those wondering about 'direct rendering: no', you should read this post by Matthias Hopf on the xorg mailing list. A quote from the post: Quote: | Don't intermix direct rendering with hardware acceleration. OpenGL *is*
hardware accelerated on Xgl, if -accel glx:pbuffer is specified. |
It would probably be best for this info to be added to the wiki. |

The problem is : how can I get indirect rendering accelerated ?
Xgl/Compiz is working fine and fluently, but I keep having low glxgears scores... (~70fps)
Idem for video playing. I still couldn't find a way to play a video fluently in fullscreen (either with Xshm, Xvideo, OpenGL... ).
Use less to tell about the xwinwrap+glmatrix trick...
My hardware : Radeon 9200 with free driver. |

Sorry if this has been asked already. I have skimmed the posts and have not seen an answer nor on the wiki. I have noticed that all my panels cover my windows. I cannot make my windows always ontop. Also my Superkarambas also are on top always. Is there a way to fix this? Also did a upgrade today and having issues starting Konqueror. _________________ Thanks

Make sure you don't have Composite enabled in xorg.conf. |

Have any nVidia users tried starting xgl with __GL_FSAA_MODE and/or __GL_LOG_MAX_ANISO set to enable antialiasing and/or anisotropic filtering, respectively? I saw a difference in cube edge quality, but other apps didn't show much of a difference. Possibly someone with a 6 or 7 series card could crank the AA and aniso way up and take some screenshots. |

Ok so i been trying to capture video of desktop with xvidcap.
Xvidcap does ok with small window capture but when i try full screen
capture i get a distorted video. I do have a weak video card but, others
with better video cards have tried with same results. Does anyone
have any suggestions on other capture software or solution to xvidcap.
I don't know if the problem is related to XGL. _________________ Core i7 920 D0 | Asus P6T DLX | Patriot Viper 1600 6GB | Antec Quattro 850W

I'm having trubles running GTK applications using XGL, such as firefox and gnome apps.
I saw the patch at the bug report's page, but later I've read that xorg-server-1.0.2-r1 was already fixed. I really don't know what to do, so if there's anyone having the same problems, notify me please.

In XGL (under kde), I'm using a focus-follows-mouse paradigm. What's missing is keyboard (preferably)/mouse shortcuts to raise or lower windows.
Anyone worked this out? |

I've looked, but can't find it. Where in the exhaustive menus would I find such an option. As a KDE user, I don't have my bearings in gconf-editor.
Appreciate the help. |

Have you locked at these settings
/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/autoraise
/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/autoraise_delay

Yes. Click-to-focus(off) works. I've also turned off autoraise.
I have no keyboard or mouse control over lowering windows. Clicking on a window raises it, which is not desirable in my paradigm. I'm looking for options to control what keyboard and/or mouse actions raise and lower windows. |
