SSH into QEMU session?

So I installed FreeBSD in a qemu disk image. I'd like to be able to ssh into the emulated OS - which Im sure is possible. I have the TUN driver in the kernel, as required. However I cant seem to get the options to qemu right, so that I can ssh into the virtual os. Has anyone gotten anything like this to work? Thanks.
