HEllo,

After rebooting the system, it works pretty fast.
But, if I do not reboot the system for 2 weeks, it really goes very slow
(even closing all current applications).

What could cause this behaviour?
What can I do to prevent this (other than booting the system every day)?

Regards,
DAVid

It depend on what you are doing during that time. If you are using cpu 100% all over it will be slow. Try maybe disable swap, cool it with "fresh air" 8)

You mean to call "swapoff -a" and then "swapon -a" again?
I'll try in 2 weeks and let you know :)

anyway, is this behaviour normal?
and a server machine, running an intensive webserver + database,
how do they prevent this?

I meant if you have a lot of ram memory then swap is not needed.

But you should not disable swap if you can spare disk space, swap is needed if you run out of memory.

Why would having a swap partition slow down the computer anyway? It isn't like it will be used if you have enough RAM.
