|

I'm running 2.6.15-gentoo-r4 on amd64 and I'm seeing strange behavior with my Leadtek px6600gt TDH PCIe card. Nvclock -i tells me: Code: | # nvclock -i
-- General info --
Card: nVidia Geforce 6600GT
Architecture: NV43 A4
PCI id: 0x140
GPU clock: 9.705 MHz
Bustype: PCI-Express
-- Pipeline info --
Pixel units: 8 (11b)
Vertex units: 3 (111b)
HW masked units: None
SW masked units: None
-- Memory info --
Amount: 128 MB
Type: 128 bit DDR
Clock: 1002.375 MHz
-- Sensor info --
Sensor: Maxim MAX6659
Board temperature: 30C
GPU temperature: 45C
Fanspeed: 100.0%
-- VideoBios information --
Version: 05.43.02.69.68
Signon message: GeForce 6600 GT BIOS
Performance level 0: gpu 300MHz/memory 1000MHz/1.30V
Performance level 1: gpu 500MHz/memory 1000MHz/1.40V
VID mask: 3
Voltage level 0: 1.10V, VID: 0
Voltage level 1: 1.20V, VID: 1
Voltage level 2: 1.30V, VID: 2
Voltage level 3: 1.40V, VID: 3
|
which shows the GPU running at 9.705 Mhz instead of 500Mhz.
Resetting the speeds with nvclock -r only gets me part way there:
Code: | # nvclock -r
Your nVidia Geforce 6600GT has been restored to its original clocks
Memory clock: 598.500 MHz
GPU clock: 299.250 MHz
|
This raises the GPU to 300, but lowers the memory.
When I try to set it to what should be the standard levels with: Code: | nvclock -n 500 -m1000 |
the display turns ugly and locks up.
Other key info:
Motherboard: ASrock 939Dual-SATAII (BIOS 1.40 stock)
Power Supply: Seasonic S12-380
The CPU is an Opteron 144
media-video/nvidia-kernel: 1.0.8178-r3
media-video/nvclock: 0.8b
Leadtek BIOS: 5.43.02.69.68 (2006/1/6)
Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Lol i'm in the same boat.
My 6800GT is reported by nvclock -i to run at some 10 Mhz which is not very plausible.
Next strange thing:
Right after booting nvclock_qt says the card runs at 270 Mhz GPU and 1070 Mhz memory.
The latter could be correct.
Glxgears prints out some 68000 to 70000 frames/5 sec.
I know the card is unstable with boot-seetings (i believe it is the memory-frequency)
So i set the card to the recommended settings for a 6800 GT which is 350 MHZ for GPU and 1000Mhz for memory.
Glxgears then prints out about 40000 frames/5 sec which is quite a drop and is in no way plausible with this settings.
I think the communication of the nvclock tools with the card-bios has some issue. Maybe someone more knowldgeable than me can shed some light on this problem. _________________ AMD64-Phenom2 940, ASUS M4??-Deluxe-Board , 8 GB-RAM , 1*1TB SATA HDD , 1*750GB SATA Hd, NVIDIA GTX 260 |

I get the same behavior on my 6600gt pcie. What I discovered however is that if you run an opengl app. even just glxgears, and check nvclock again it displays the correct speeds. Or at least that's how it works for me. The card must either throttle down when not rendering 3d, or nvclock has some sort of issue. |

I think nvclock has a problem.
My card runs ad 350 MHz but nvclock shows 261 Mhz.
If i change the frequency to 350 Mhz the GUI locks completely because the GPU gets heavily overclocked.
But maybe that is a problem related to the 6800GT.
On the other box i have an 6600GT PCI-E but this box right now runs on windows (upsi ) _________________ AMD64-Phenom2 940, ASUS M4??-Deluxe-Board , 8 GB-RAM , 1*1TB SATA HDD , 1*750GB SATA Hd, NVIDIA GTX 260 |
