|
|
I just upgraded to modular x, which is quite an improvement from the monolithic x.org, but there is one big, gaping problem.
When I start xterm, it takes for ever!! I understand that it is because of the "Failed to open input method" error.
Here is the output for starting xterm:
Code: |
Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C
Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default
Info: Using render cleanup parameters 8/20/23/24/25/26.
Info: Using image cleanup parameters 0/0/0/0.
Failed to open input method
|
I've tried several things, I have searched for two continuous nights, and nothing.
I'd appreciate any help! |

I've solved the speed issue with Xterm, but still, the input method cannot be found.
I can't copy/paste anything!!
Please, if anyone knows how to specify the input method please post! |

I'm having the same problem. It is _annoying_.
These are the errors in my Xorg console log when trying to copy and paste between some aterms:
Code: | Info: Using render cleanup parameters 8/20/23/24/25/26.
Info: Using image cleanup parameters 0/0/0/0.
Info: Using render cleanup parameters 8/20/23/24/25/26.

aterm: Failed to open input method
Info: Using image cleanup parameters 0/0/0/0.

aterm: Failed to open input method

aterm: Failed to open input method

No running windows found |
If i copy text from one aterm and try to paste in another window, the first aterm dissapears (completely! zap - poof - gone!) |

Bump - really need to get this fixed.
More errors, this time in a VLC console. I'm not sure if they're related, but looked familiar to the errors dbcoder is receiving.
Code: |
(process:8227): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by Xlib
(process:8227): Gdk-WARNING **: cannot set locale modifiers

Do you guys ever installed the NX stuff??
I've got the same problem with my xim stuff with X11R7.0(aka. modular X).
But after unemerging the NX related packages and deleting the /usr/NX directory, my xim stuff worked again ...
It seems that my xim used some shared library of NX instead of X11R7. _________________ Do It!

Fantastic, I can paste again!!
I don't know how you worked that out, but I'm glad you did. Thanks Quanii.
I just did the same, emerge -C anything related to freenx then rm -rf /usr/NX. |
