i have a setup with multiple devices as below:
/dev/md/0 - /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3 @ / in raid0
/dev/md/1 - /dev/sda4 /dev/sdb4 @ /home in raid0
/dev/sda1 @ /boot
i believe that i have all of the configuration for the kernel, all the raid stuff is compilied directly in. it is based of a stage3 build. during the kernel bootstrap it will not detect any of the multidisk devices, one of which is the / drive, which it panics at that point. is there anything that i can try to get this to work?
for further clarification... here is the md part of the kernel loading
md: Autodetecting Raid arrays.
md: autorun...
md: ...autorun DONE.
i have read through most of the documents on here and on the wikis, and nothing seems to work. i have made the nodes, i can get the nodes made in dev and start the raids in the livecd, i can compile the kernel and get it moved over (other wise i wouldn't be having a kernel panic). am i missing something? i followed everything down to the dotted is and crossed ts.
thanx

ok... you all can start laughing. it usually helps to have the proper sata drivers for the disks you are trying to boot off of, so i guess i solved the PEBKAC problem. |
