I probably have about 8-9 computers on the network, including 3 routers, two hardware and one linux system (and then my personal computers running on win2k/winxp, and of course, Gentoo)

Anyways, I can't find the IP address of my linksys router! so I was just wondering if there is a program I can use that will detect all of the systems and their IP addresses? (I'm still very new to the *nix networking part...--

Oh, I also have an OfficeJet 7130 (HP) plugged into one of the routers, the Windows machines pick it up fine, but how do I install it on this gentoo machine? Thanks for any advice/tips.

best way to find devices on a network is to do something like a ping sweep.

with nmap you can say something like nmap -sP 192.168.0.0/24

say you wanted to scan every ip from 192.168.0.1-192.168.254.254 you would use 192.168.0.0/16, if you wanted to do just the 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 range, you would use 192.168.1.0/24. Get the idea?
