Installation of the Cisco VPN client 4.7 supplied by my univ fails because it is incompatible with kernel 2.6.14, so I emerged vpnc & I have managed to get it configured so that it successfully opens a connection with the school's vpn server.
ifconfig lists tun0 with its inet addr:, P-t-P:, and Mask: addresses, and while that connection is active I can ping the tun0 inet addr.
But how do I open a browser connection through the vpn? As it is, the vpn connection is "alive" but not being used.
edit: duh...the command to use is "vpnc-connect"; I might have known that if I had rtfm, but before, when I was running the (wrong) command "vpnc" it looked like it was establishing a connection. Go figure. |
