Hello together,
Sound in et did not work at first, I had to put

echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo "et.x86 0 0 disable" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss

into my local.start. Now it works, but now I also want to play some sound (like music) in the backround, from another program (in example xmms)
than et.

If I start some sound playback befor I start et, et has no sound :(

Is there a way to get it ot work?
Thanks!
Nathan

PS: et=enemy terrirory

That can happen using motherboard audio. It may be built in and cheap but that doesn't make it good. Another possible reason is that the linux drivers don't fully support it. I've purchased 3 SB Live pci sound cards over the years because I know they are well supported.

Use dmix. See http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ALSA_sound_mixer_aka_dmix

You need ALSA for this, so if you use OSS, you will probably have to switch to ALSA or buy a decent card. You may also need to launch ET using aoss, for example:
Code:
aoss firefox

in order to have sound with firefox plugins when using dmix.
