Bootloader/kernel problems

ok...ive been trying to get my gentoo working for the past three days now...and it's getting very frustrating

first off...im sort of a newbie to linux
second... i dont know where to find my kernel after i emerged it or whatever....i compiled and went through the settings and all...then i did a make dep
it did its thing and for some reason i dont know what the kernel name is or where its at
i think that my boot loader is not working because of this

any help would be nice and would keep a person from going back to windows
