I just setted up my gentoo to work, but
sound quality is very low.

I have Sound Blaster 24bit Live!
Creative 5.1 speakers, which work ony 2 of them.

I use ca0106 driver.

Full dublex is on,
Sound buffes as large as possible
runinrg with highest priority
Quility is set to 16bit

What should i do to hear normal sound.
And is there a way to hear 5.1

you can test your speakers with
Code:
# speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6

You may also want to try setting your .asoundrc to upsample your output to 48000hz, this turned out to be a very solid fix four poor output quality on the audigy2 nx.

I setted 48000Hz, didn't felt any bid difference.

Speakers are 100% OK.
Device is 100% OK.
Under windows, everything is fine.

I tried:

Code:

localhost ~ # speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6

speaker-test 0.0.8

Playback device is plug:surround51
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 32 to 16384
Period size range from 16 to 8192
Periods = 4
Buffer time size 2525
To choose buffer_size = 16384
To choose period_size = 4096
was set period_size = 4096
was set buffer_size = 16384
 0 - Front Left
 4 - Center
 1 - Front Right
 3 - Rear Right
 2 - Rear Left
 5 - LFE
Time per period = 17.581187
 0 - Front Left
 4 - Center
 1 - Front Right
 3 - Rear Right
 2 - Rear Left
 5 - LFE

but i herd sound only from front speakers.
It plays stereo.

I'm using buildin alsa in kernel-2.6.16 (manual compilation)

Have you loaded the soundfonts? You need to have soundfont loaded before playing MIDI file unless the SB 24-bit Live comes with soundfonts on the card, which I doubt.
