|
|
Hi,
I would like to configure Kicker such that I have a Gnome-like menu:
[the K-menu button] [Applications] [Shell button] [System] [Help]
The butons already exist. I would like to be able to add menus (with a shown name such as Application and possibly icon) in which I can throw applications, applets, and special buttons.
Is this possible?

Yes, but making it is a bit different. Use K->Settings->Menu Editor to create a folder with the stuff you want. Then you can add it to a panel in KDE by doing add->application->your stuff->Add This Menu.
If you're worried about having many of these and you don't want to clog up your real K menu, you can add a folder on the K Menu called "Panels" and add all your "drawers" (as they are called in gnome I think) under there. |

RoundsToZero,
Thanks, your sugestion put me on the right way.
The only thing I still can't seem to do (don't know how) is add a name that appears next to the icon on the panel.
(edit) And how can I add applets and special buttons (are their commands to be found somewhere)?

Sorry, I'm not sure about either of those. For the second one the way I would go about doing it is looking at dcop interfaces for stuff you have running and see if you can do any of the "special button commands" with a dcop interface. Then you make a command button for your menu that runs the dcop command, and you can even try to set the icon for it to the one the real special button uses. Then you can place it on your menu.
EDIT: You can use kdcop to browse dcop interfaces. |
