freenx seems to always want to start a new x session instead of using the 1 that gets loaded with the computer starts up is there anyway to make it use the startup session?

I guess you have configured your box with freenx AND a standard xserver with kde whatsoever?
It would be better then not to start xdm at all or to kill the unused x-server after startup.
As freenx brings in its own X-server it is not possible to share sessions between them, as far as i know.

hope this helps, my box runs freeNX pretty well :)

I have it setup running Azureus and some other server stuff in gnome. I have to have x on there to be able to configure some of the plugin and such. If i could have it run on nx and just be able to connect to that whenever then that would be cool. It auto starts with x at some point, don't remember where but can always change it if i have to. so basically i would just need it to start every boot and then just have it be in whatever remote admin i use. I have been using vnc but NX is much better.

you want to have x because it makes the administration of server-stuff like Azereus easier, is that what you mean?
Well, if this gets started as deamon during boot in init.d there should be no need to start a x-server or whole gnome-session indipendently from NX. When you start your NX-Session, you can simple start your adminstration utilities.
Maybe i do not understand what the Problem is :)
