|
|
I am tasked with installing Linux on some Sun E220's for web and mail.
I am looking at these servers configed for:
Mail Server:
Postfix, Cyrus IMAP, Cyrus SASL, OpenSSL, MySQL, pam_mysql, Apache 2, PHP 4, Web-cyradm Webinterface, SqiurrelMail or Imp and DJBDNS (Primary DNS). This server will be handling about 50 virtual domains.
Web Server:
Apache 2, Tomcat 4 (Since I am not sure if iPlanet 6 will work with Linux on Sparc), PHP 4, MySQL, phpBB and DJBDNS (Secondary DNS). This server will be handling about 50 virtual sites.
Common apps not listed ofcoarse...
The main reasons for using Gentoo is the package manangement system as well as LVM.
Has anyone done this?
The only reason for going Sparc with this situation is the fact that I have them just sitting here loaded with memory and HD space. I would have to spend money to go x86.
Any comments or recommendations would greatly be appreciated...
