I have really done it now.
I was trying to install my new USB mouse when my keyboard stopped working. I recompiled the kernel according to the instructions but something must have gone wrong. When I start X the keyboard stops working. As "startx" is automatically started I cannot do anything!
Well I am not that experienced yet but I am getting there. I have searched the forum but have found nothing.
How can I stop X to start when the computer is rebooted?
Thanks in advance! |

You'll have to use your gentoo boot-disk, and chroot into your installed Gentoo. Then, as root, type re-update del <kdm/xdm/gdm> (whichever you use), and reboot.
Or, since you're then in the chrooted environment, nano /etc/X11/XF86config, and ckeck out the keyboard dection, if you suspect the problem to be in there. |

Sorry I didn't look at the most obvious place, the FAQ.
I used the installation cd and now it works.
Thanks! |
