Hi all!
First of all, I'd like to let u know that I'm completely newbie in this linux world. Since I'm a student of computer science in the university I thought I cannot keep working JUST with windows anymore, so I started to read how to install gentoo. This was the distro I liked the most but I guess it wasn't the most appropiate for a begginer. But well, now the worst part is already done. I still haven't sound (I can't understand why ... I think I followed all the instructions of ALSA configuration :( ) and I can't reproduce any video. Of course I installed all the programs I could think of (vlc, totem, ...) and all the codecs (divx and xvid) but nothing.
But well, the main problem I have now is that gcc compiles my programs in IA64 (I guess it's normal) but in my univ. we are working with IA32 assembler so I searched in the gcc man and I found the -m32 argument that compiles in IA32. It was perfect til here, but by the time I try to execute any of my compiled programs (object) the bash tells me "Permission Denied". I've tried chmod +x and all this stuff and nothing. Do you know why does it happens?

Thank you very much for your help!!

neoelve.

Edit: By the way, I also tried to compile a hello world program and didn't work neither.
Code:
gentoo sessio4 # ls
Fusion.s  FusionCorrecte.s  FusionMasu.s  FusionOrigina.s
FusionOriginal.c  Main.c  Sesion04.pdf  fusio  fusion  readme.txt
gentoo sessio4 # chmod +x fusio
gentoo sessio4 # ./fusio
-bash: ./fusio: Permission denied
gentoo sessio4 # vim holamon.c
gentoo sessio4 # ls
Fusion.s  FusionCorrecte.s  FusionMasu.s  FusionOrigina.s
FusionOriginal.c  Main.c  Sesion04.pdf  fusio  fusion  holamon.c
readme.txt
gentoo sessio4 # gcc -m32 holamon.c -o HOLA
gentoo sessio4 # ./HOLA
-bash: ./HOLA: Permission denied
gentoo sessio4 # chmod +x HOLA
gentoo sessio4 # ./HOLA
-bash: ./HOLA: Permission denied

Yes, but I think the problem is not that simple :s
But my real worry right now is the other thing (gcc). Anybody know why that happens to me?

Could you tell us the filesystem/mount options for the filesystem you're building in?
Does a normal 64bit compiled program work from that dir?
