I know there is another forum for emacs being slow, and how hdparm was recommended, but I was just wondering if there might be another way to speed its launching. Every other program have starts almost instantly, but emacs is by far the slowest of the bunch. Under other linux distros I have tried it seemed to launch much faster. I was just wondering if there might be some simple thing I can fix to try and speed it up. Thanks! |

I had the same problem using emacs some time ago!
I think the problem is that you have to input your ip with the name of the machine in the file /etc/hosts.
For example try to input in your file /etc/hosts:
Code: |
127.0.0.1 <name_of_the_machine>
|
Where, <name_of_the_machine> is the name you gave to your computer.
If them, the problems isn't ok, report it. _________________ "Making a wrong decision is understandable. Refusing to search continually for learning is not."
