mail server - telnet test on postfix

I'm following http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Linux_Virtual_Hosting_Server guide, but while running the telnet commands, I get the error
"502 Error: command not implemented" when using the "rept to:" command, and I'm unsure why. I'm not quite sure what info to provide you with, so just ask and I'll get it to ya, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It seems as if all of the commands work except for rept to:, could something be mistyped with that command(in the wiki?)
