|
|
Hi! I'm using gentoo on an amd-64 desktop computer with a geforce 6600. I emerged and configured the nvidia drivers without troubles, but when I connect a TV to the tv-out, whenever I switch/quit from X to a console I get a black screen with random green squares here and there, and there is no readable text . The computer is still responsive as I can load X again and everything works fine. The console is garbled on both my CRT monitor and the TV. I'm using a framebuffer console and I tried various combinations of vesafb and vesa-tng with no success I configured Twinview with clone mode, then I tried to configure the TV as a separate monitor with its own X server, no changes again
If I unplug the composite cable from the videoboard, when I quit X I have no troubles with the framebuffer console :/
Well... any help is really appreciated Thank you |

Hey
I have the same vidcard and running x86
I am haveing the same issue with the tv.
I will let you know if i come across anything ...
Here are my problems. Keep in mind None of this occured before a framebuffer was installed.
when booting, text is slow to be written.... The text looks all garbled....then eventually looks better...
I have dual monitors. When I switch from dual monitors to 1 monitor and tv-out everything is fine. If i switch back I get the problem of X locking up all garbage like!
rebooting has a slow console also.
I am going to try some things and get back to you.
let me know if you find anything out.
cheers

I have the same problem, but adding mtrr:3 didn't resolved it. Could you please post your grub.conf? Have you set any other options? |

hmm, this doesn't work for me. I have the same problem, also on an amd64 (so vesafb-tng is not an option) I think my situation is more like the the original poster's than like yours though: everything is fine when I first start up, then everything is messed up (and doesn't improve) after starting X with tv-out on and then switching back to a (framebuffer) console. _________________ -Wes
