Hi,
I've been reading up a little on creating a RAID5 out of 4x160GB ide drives. The first obvious question is which way should I create it? Should I use Raidtools or Mdadm? I've read that Mdadm is the preferred method now but I'm not sure why.
What is better about Mdadm over Raidtools? I like the idea of the /etc/raidtab but I can see how this would have it's drawbacks... although I'm putting my system on a separate 120GB drive (not raided) so there won't be a problem reading it at boot time....

When setting up my RAID box I tried both.
mdadm is much, much easier. It basically auto-generates config file. Low maintenance and it just plain works. Only one command, too.
