I have started a GentooForums team on the Rosetta@Home project

The project is to try and determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins

Quote:
Rosetta@home needs your help to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases. By running the Rosetta program on your computer while you don't need it you will help us speed up and extend our research in ways we couldn't possibly attempt without your help. You will also be helping our efforts at designing new proteins to fight diseases such as HIV, Malaria, Cancer, and Ahttps://forums.gentoo.org/posting.php?mode=newtopic&f=7lzheimer's (See our Disease Related Research for more information). Please join us in our efforts!

Please show your support for this project and join this team at: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/create_account_form.php?teamid=2381
Create an account, or if you are already partipicating, please join our team.

Further information about signing up and also the terms and conditions can be found at: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_intro.php

Hey, that must be cheating somehow doing that in the GentooForums group ;)

I'll try the software myself and sign up, it's time to rule.

Btw, Gentoo Linux Users Everywhere is also working on this project and I thought that was our "official" team?
Oh well, joined them instead ;)

OK, nice to see we're finally getting some interest...

FFS though, I'm the one organising it, and i can't get BOINC working from the command line.
Any help would be appreciated...

OK, turns out that I overlooked the Gentoo Linux Users Everywhere team, from now on, this thread is to renew interest in this team and hopefully get more Gentoo users using up their spare CPU cycles.

From now on, please sign up to the GLUE team at: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/create_account_form.php?teamid=377

This descision has been made to try and prevent "team fragmentation" (Q-Collective)

Woot, after hours of fucking around with that crappy client, it finally decided to work :)
I might just write a new client using PyQt one day :?

Anyway, just crunched my first units back to the project and I'm already number 4 on GLUE :D

Two. My desktop, Athlon 64 3700+, 2GB RAM, and my laptop, Sempron 3000+, 512MB RAM, clocked down to 800mhz right now (it's overheating lately).

They can both run it full bore without me noticing any slowdown whatsoever, so I just leave them going.

I'm not in GLUE... not this computer at least...
This computer is on another team - I've been requested to keep it there due to the fact that I'm running a modded version of BOINC on there...

welp's in there, it's just that my server isn't working at it's best...
