Hello All,
I have a Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory installed. I also have several shares on this server which I would like to connect to from Gentoo. I don't need to access any other resources in Active Directory. Just vidoes and music files located in the shares.
After some googling I have found some material which suggest 2 options:
Quote: | There are 2 alternatives to authenticate against Active Directory:
1. Using the kerberos client (requires Active Directory)
2. Using Winbind & samba client
In my opinion, option 1 is the cleanest. I definitely found it more simple to setup. Option 2 offers some additional features, notably the use of th net command through which you can enumerate domain users and more. However on most workstations this will not be required. Therefore, if you have active directory i recommend option 1. |
I have attempted to play with samba client in a different setting but have no experience with kerberos or Winbind.
Does anyone have any experience with this and if so could use please give some advice.
