Is there a way to virtualize gentoo on windows?
Perhaps virtual PC and whatever that other one is called?
I have never used them, and i am getting a laptop and really
don't want to hassle with two partitions. |

qemu. & I'd advise you run windows under gentoo (if at all ) unless you're after using windows for gaming.
vmware-player is another possibility, and allegedly faster. |

Dont use MS virtual PC, a friend of mine tried that recently with Redhat. And besides beang dog slow compared the vmware he tried later, the whole graphical desktop (X) for example would not work. |

I used Virtual PC the last place i worked, so i kind of know how that works. But i suppose that
WM Ware works in basicly the same way. But how do i get my hands on/make a gentoo image to load? |

At work, we just bought vmware, like you would with virtual pc, and follow the new virtual machine wizard. Its very easy. I dont know what exactly you can do with the free vmware player product as i have never tried it. |

I run Gentoo in Vmware 5.5 on Windows.
That way I can keep my iTunes playing my tunes etc.. whilst using Gentoo for real work.
Its so nice not having to reboot all the time, cause my flat mate uses my inkjet printer which doesn't work very well under Linux. _________________ --[ UltraSPARC ]--

You might like to look at the coLinux project. This is a project developed on the basis of User Mode Linux and basically runs a linux kernel inside Windows (instead of running a linux kernel in linux, as UML does).

RMS might disagree with you there.... |
