|

Hi All,
I've been attempting to get RealPlayer to install some codecs, and have been having some difficulties. Thinking that the problem might be with USE flags, I performed an emerge -pv on the following packages: realplayer, mplayer, win32codecs.
In the list of flags for the packages, I noticed something which I don't understand. I explicitly set some flags, such as "real". The output of the emerge would show the flag as "-real*".
What does this mean? I am guessing that it means the flag was set, but not used for some reason. I couldn't find anything about this in the emerge manpages.
Thanks!

They are to indicate USE flags for a package that is already installed that have changed since it has been installed. If you were to reinstall/update that package, that USE flag would be used. |

Thank you for the very fast reply!
After your response, I read the emerge manpage again, this time looking at the --newuse option. It looks like the information you told me was right there -- I was just looking in the wrong section.
Thanks for the information! |
