Mr Sk, we really ought to do so. Given the information of this thread we already have some basics to build upon -- I'll join the team.
How about creating a project page with a maling list and distributing some smaller tasks for every project member instead of letting one person do the whole work itself? |

Here is a tidbit I found usefull.
Using... | Code: | | bsetbg -f /wallpaper.png |
...as described in ~/.fluxbox/startup doesn't work very well if your wallpaper is larger or smaller than your desktop resolution. One solution is to use another app to render the desktop image such as feh.
Edit your ~/.fluxbox/init and change 'session.screen0.rootCommand:' to
| Code: | | session.screen0.rootCommand: feh --bg-scale /path/to/wallpaper.png |
Or to tile wallpaper this works
| Code: | | session.screen0.rootCommand: feh --bg-tile /path/to/wallpaper.png |
There are probably other options. I don't know.
Don't forget to comment out the bsetbg line in ~/.fluxbox/startup before using this method.
Restart fluxbox for changes to take effect.

I searched my system but could not find a torsmo config or example config file. Can someone post one?
Also - are they any transparent file managers? or file managers that can be configured to be transparent?

Evidence may be worth a look. They seem to be working on transparent theming. Check out this screenshot. |

i would post, but i have no website on which to post,
so find the torsmo tzr.gz (or tar.bz2, cant remember which) in the distfiles (/usr/portage/distfiles by default) and extract it to where ever.
then go into where you extracted it to, and there is a .torsmorc.sample or something allong those lines.
copy it to ~/.torsmorc and enjoy the comments.
if i find a website to host me for free, ill post my config, but its pretty straightforward.
if i knew how to write ebuilds, i would change it to move the sample, but i only know basic python....

stupid me, not python, its just a bash script, but ive never written them, i may take a look though [/EDIT]

| I made a transparent theme using the K5-FVWM theme. Here is a screenshot of me using it. If anyone wants it or wants to know how to make a theme transparent IM/PM me as I have not put the theme on my site yet. |

Instead of gkrellm, I prefer gdesklets, tho all builds are masked. Take a look of what it offers at: http://gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org

When you start having plenty of startup-apps eg. idesk, gdesklets and all those little dockapps, you can always go for fluxspace, which is an application meant to ease workspace & desktop management.
Fluxspace stores it configuration file to ~/.fluxbox/fluxspace.xml which is fairly easy to modify.
I myself use fluxspace to start gdesklets, idesk and set my background image, helps keep .fluxbox/init clean |

GDesklets are massive ram and cpu whores.. use torsmo.
Way less resources and just as neat. |

my suggestion is go grab the tarball, and extract it by hand, if it doesnt work from the ebuild
but if you installed it as root, which you would have too, wouldnt it put it in roots home/.gkrellm/themes?
but my suggestion is ditch gkrellm for torsmo, its so much cooler, and it does everything i have needed it to do for me!

.gkrellm/themes or .gkrellm2/themes is a user directory. That's where gkrellm/gkrellm2 themes go that the user has downloaded (or other). Adding themes to that directory will show up in the theme window that you find in the config. window of gkrellm/gkrellm2.

Hi everyone, I've really enjoyed using these tips, but I have a question:
When I launch gkrellm using
either from an aterm or from the ~/.fluxbox/startup file, it automatically places it in the top center of my workspace, and I cannot move it to the upper left corner where I want it.
Any tips on how to keep this from happening? It doesn't seem to be linked to "Remember -> Position" because when I do a standard
It launches exactly where it should be.

Thanks, that was it. Guess I was lumping the slit and the toolbar into the same category when they are two very separate things. |

I guess I am in love with flux finally. I was going on and off with kde and flux. but, now that i am forced to use it for a while 'cause I am compiling kde from the scratch, and that I am using some nice fluxmod styles .. I don't think i am going back.
Any good file manager? |

I use both xfe and rox..... they operate slightly differently but cover everything you need to use
