I've upgraded my kernel (gentoo-sources) from 2.6.14 to 2.6.15. Everything seems ok, but the microphone doesn't work, I mean I can't record any voice from my microphone.
When I turn on the mic boost in alsamixer, I can hear my mic in speakers. When I turn off (mute) the mic boost, I can't hear my microphone from speakers. In both case I can't record anything. No error messages, just no any recorded sound when I try to play it back. I used audacity to test my mic. Of course voip programs like skype can't use my mic too.
I've checked, I have no any hardware error of course.
I think it's an udev problem.
When I've upgraded the kernel to 2.6.15, I upgraded udev too (emerge udev) My udev version is 079-r1 now. I ran udevstart too, but no success. Is there something else I need to do to complete udev update?
What is the problem with my microphone? |

I'm having the same problem, alsa-driver alsa-driver-1.0.11, gentoo kernel 2.6.16-r4, Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 04)
When setting the mixer controls appropriately, talking into the mike, I can hear myself in the speaker (edit: but not in the Headphones!?). But nothing I do seems to result in any actual recording from the microphone. |
