Hi All
I have an odd issue with memory. I seem to be using memory up quite quickly even when my machine is just sitting with just x and gnome running.
This casues problems later when trying to use other apps and getting told that I have run out of memory. When I run top it just shows that x is using about 2.5 to 3.0 % of memory.
A fre machine specs to help:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1 Gb of RAM
and plenty of hard disk space.
Any ideas how I can solve this issue.

open top and press ctrl+m to order all stuff my memory usage
now you can see which process is eating all the memory, if it's nothing important you can just kill it _________________ (\ /)

Hi
It appears that X and gnome are using a lot of memory. Is there anyway I can slime this down without changing to a lightweight desktop.
It appears that my desktop is using a lot of memory. Along with firefox which was using nearly 5% of my memory.
Any ideas. |
