I noticed that, while Totem is working fine with avi files, it always crashes when I try to play a mpeg video. The user interface also has some little visualization problems...

Has anyone the same problems? Can you help me?

Are you using the latest stable totem available in portage tree?

Try to run it from a terminal and post errors here

Thanks

I have the same problem since I went ~amd64, seems to affect all xine-lib applications so I presume that it's a problem with the latest xine-lib. No issues with avi, or quicktime or anything else(well excluding win32 codec stuff, but that's normal), it just segfaults; as soon as you load it.

I haven't yet worked out a solution, but upgrading to the package.mask version does not work, nor does compiling it with or without internal ffmpeg support. I've also just recently done an emerge -e world so it's not that either.

Bit more info for anyone actually reading this and wanting to help. Downgrading xine-lib does not help. I've been using regular xine-ui for debugging purposes as more settings and options are available for testing. AAxine(the aalib interface to xine) works fine on these same files, but setting the output to aa in xine-ui still crashes. This leads me to believe that this is in some way related to a gui failure, perhaps to the gnome-settings-daemon bug caused by using eventd for my mouse driver. Will post more as I determine it.
