Hi

Short while ago I "upgraded" X to 4.3.0 (from 4.2.1) using
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge xfree

That went on OK, although emerge insisted on upgrading and adding alot of packages. It actualy crashed my PC first time I tried it, then I shutted X down and tried again, and it worked then...

When I then afterwards started X, it was slow. When it starts up it, as usualy, displays the nVIDIA splash-screen, then the screen turns grey, with the "nice" x mouse cursor. It stays that way for about 15sec, and then displays the nice KDM greeting. Also when playing DivX it doesn't play as smooth as before.

Now I'm using the same /etc/X11/XF86Config as before (and that one ripped from the SuSE 8.1 that is installed on the same machine, but allmost never used :) ). Are there any new tweeking options in 4.3.0 worth trying?

My system is a PIII 750MHz with a gForce 4 ti4200.

regards

Your slow kdm login should be fixed by typing ( as root )
fc-cache
then restart the xserver

as for slow Divx playing you should have at least gaven a hint by saying what player your are using. :)

Thx, that did help on the slow startup time.

Conserning the movie performance, I was using MPlayer 0.90rc4-3.2.2 but it looked more like that my computer was grumphy. It does play allright now :roll:
