Hi

I just installed Gentoo and it seems to work quite well except for the fact that when I try to start the pcmcia script the system seems to crash and I just get a blank screen. Can someone give me any kind of help here? I have no idea what to do.
Thanks.

So don't do that.

But seriously, are you trying to get older 16bit pcmcia cards to work with your machine ?

If you only use 32bit cardbus cards, then you don't need any of the pcmcia scripts or drivers. 32bit cards will show up the same as PCI cards, and hotplug will handle insertion and removal.
