I've been lazy for a while and have been using 2.6.11 for quite some time.
Recently, I updated to 2.6.15-r1.
The problem now is: I get no prompt in konsole (I'm using KDE)
I get a blank window with the cursor in the upper left corner, but I cannot see a promt, and it doesn's accept keyboard input.
Keybord is working in other programs - as you can see
The problem is not present, when I boot 2.6.11
Text console (CTRL-ALT-F1) works without problems.
when trying to start xterm (via ALT-F2), nothing happens.
I tried genkernel instead of my "handmade" .config, but the problem stays.
I don't see anything in /var/log/messages or /var/log/Xorg.*.log
So: I don't have any idea, where to look, and would appreciate any help! |

I'm no expert in this case, but it sounds like a now unsupported, dropped or changed module for your hardware inside 2.6.15. I had not the same issues like you, but had some weird one's with udev, nss_ldap and 2.6.15. Because the kernel modules are all the time in a development progress, this might happen. If everything works with your previous one: just wait for the next release. |
