What's the easiest way to view the ip address being assigned to my cable modem when I connect it to a wireless router? I can view it fine with ifconfig when I direct connect my laptop to the modem. I want to view it when I connect the modem to my wireless router and use the wireless router as the gateway. In that scenario I see the router as an internal address and can't see my external ip.

Does your modem have a web server app or telnet session that you can connect to and find out. Failing that there are many services on the net which will tell you your world ip address when you connect to them. For example www.grc.com (then goto shields Up) |
