Hi. Today I managed to bork my system by deleting devfsd. I have downloaded a package from a server to /var/tmp/portage-pkg/All but when I try to emerge i get the message "there are no ebuilds to satisfy devfsd...". The portage tree in /usr/portage has entries for 1.3.25-r{8,9} but none for 1.3.25 (no -r). I cannot find an .ebuild for 1.3.25, only for -r{7,8,9}
Please help!

Is there a reason why you can't just emerge one of the ebuilds you have? Are they masked or something? _________________ Ronald McDonald -> The necessary Evil. |

Umm, yeah. That would have worked. It was late and my brain must have switched off. Anyway I solved the problem by copying over /sbin/devfsd from the LiveCD. I'm emerging it again now so that I don't have any versioning problems (the version of devfsd on the LiveCD is older than the one I deleted.)
Thanks. |
