kernel options? set jiffies..

im wondering about these kernel options and im having trouble finding any documentation on them. what do these do?

Set jiffies for i386 (1000)?

CPU Frequency Scaling. AMD K6-3 PowerNow! (this allows you to scale back a cpu to increce battery life.. but when i try to include it I get compile time errors??)

Jiffies are the easiest way to find out how long an operation lasted (more or less a counter).
Sometimes they are very important so better enable them

CPU Frequency Scaling is still experimental, isn't it? If so, don't complain

oh im not about to complain.

I just have an AMD k6-III with PowerNow! in a laptop and ide wondred why that errors out. (oh well I got a long battey life anyhow)

about the "Jiffies" option I had wondred if that had anything to do with CPU speed.. (like say setting it to 450 in my case) however I guess thats not the case.
