Can I do that?/
I completely hosed xorg on my local system, but the korora cd seems to work splendidly. How can I use it (and its settings) to determine which versions of which software will work on my machine?
Im going to get the versions of
xorg-x11
xorg-server
ati-drivers
from the kororra cd (If i can figure out how to open a terminal) and make my system match. Am i missing anything from the link above?
Thanx
edit -- appears I cannot get the versions of hte packages from the command line using emerge -s. Any way to figure this out? |

Use it to chroot into your install from the LiveCD just like when you first installed gentoo.
Once chrooted, Code: | emerge -pv xorg-x11 xorg-server ati-drivers | to see what you have installed
Do the same command outside of the chroot to see what's on the livecd. This may or may not work depending on whether they installed those using portage but it's worth a shot. |

I opened up a terminal using "ALT + F2 -->> xterm". For some reason gnome-terminal would not work. I guess it's a problem with ATI cards. I was able to fix my xorg by running X -configure then copying the contents of this auto xorg to my xorg-x11 by doing mv /root/xorg.conf.new /root/xorg.default.conf. |
