I'm wondering how to do this:
I like to mount a samba share for backup on another Gentoo system which has a tape drive.
This directory has rights and permissions which i like to backup also.
But when i mount it on the PC with the tape, the permissions and user has changed into rwxrwxrwx root.
How can i see the user and rights as if on the samba box, like rwxr--r-- apache ??
I don't like to change the whole directory structure after the restore again to the rights and users as it should be. |

use tar, then copy the tar file to the tape. _________________ Is that a banhammer ?
