doesn work with "boot -arc DVA0"..
.. nether does "update"..
Cant get to ARCconsole using the ">>>arc" command..
Am I doing it wrong or is it time to use other means of firmware upgrade?.. I updated a newer system EB164 with no problem.. it did have AlphaBios befor the srm then. The As255 have an SRM-console..

I did SRM update on my 164LX with these steps:
1.- SRM to AlphaBios
2.- AlphaBios to SRM new version.
I can not to upgrade SRM from SRM directly too.

really late response to an old question , but....
The AlphaStation 255 was a "half flash" workstation. The eeproms only had enough space for either SRM or AlphaBios, not both simultaneously. That is why typing "arc" does nothing for you.
