Hi,

Since my upgrade to 2.6.16, I get random system freezes  Sysrq keys don't work and I need to power off. I tried noapic, nolapic, apic, lapic without success. Everything worked fine with 2.6.15.

Anyone with system freezes on 2.6.16?

Thank you

yes are normaly if you have glibc 2.4, it's not stable, downgrade to 2.3.5-r2

Mmmmhhhh... Interesting :? I don't have any problem with glibc 2.4 with kernel 2.6.15... I'll first rebuild my glibc against a 2.6.16 kernel and if I still get freezes, I'll downgrade to 2.3.5-r2.

Thank you

Do you have some links about that? I'm curious to have more details

I'll try this as soon as possible.

Thank you

Quote:
brot@brotkastn ~ $ emerge -pv glibc beyond-dev-sources

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] sys-libs/glibc-2.4-r1 USE="glibc-omitfp nls nptl nptlonly pic userlocales -build -hardened -profile" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] sys-kernel/beyond-dev-sources-2.6.16 USE="symlink -build -doc" 0 kB [3]

And I have never ever had a system freeze. So i am pretty sure this isnt due to the glibc.

Downgrading glibc is a really bad idea  It will just break your system  I'm recompiling glibc-2.4 now thanks to a binary package linked against glibc-2.3 :D

Any other idea to break my box?
