|
|
hi all,
i just spend a few days setting up an ldap-server, just to figure out, that TheBat wont really work with ldap;(
Now i'm thinking about mapi (to have central addressboook), postfix/cyrus are already running fine, all i want now is a central addressbook, that i can use from TheBat(Win), Kmail and from my soon to be purchased pocketpc.
Can somebody point me to a doc that explains me how to setup an xchange-server (that is the one i need, right?)?
Thx! _________________ --

here is a good installation guide for open-xchange
http://www.mikefetherston.ca/OX/html/
but for an centralized adressbook it's enough to use ldap for this. _________________ linux is like a bitch, open for everyone |

hi,
thx for that link, i will check it out.
I know i can use ldap-only, but that doesn't really work the way i want. For example, thebat can't really browse the addressbook, while explicitly searching fo an entry works fine... and adding entries to the addressbook doesn't work. Since i heard MAPI works better in thebat, i want to give it a try.. _________________ --

MAPI is a microsoft standard, you probably mean IMAP ?
In a *nix environment LDAP is the way for addressbook sharing, supported by a wide range of clients like Evolution and KMail. |
