I want to run a program that will IM me when certain things are detected (basicly, security attacks and such). I've found that centericq will allow command-line sending of messages if it's already running. Does anyone else know of a console-based IM program that can send a message from the command line?
Also, what is the best way to get centericq running in the background? I'm thinking of screen (I think that's what it is) right now, but was wondering if there's any other something out there. |

Yay, replay to self...
Anyways, screen works, but the centericq text gets corrupted when I switch back. No big deal since messages will be only outgoing...but still, it could be a problem for someone else |

In centericq press Ctrl-L and the screen will stop being corrupted. You might need to press it twice actually. No idea why centericq does this. |
