I understand that i need to get this from the site. But the link gets me nowhere at al! I have
registered. And the download page just takes me to some page saying request will be processed
blah blah..... How can I just get hold of java??

You'll have to wait for them to allow the download, exactly as the page says. Sorry, but there's nothing wrong with the site, it's the US's strict export laws on some software. :p

I didn't had that problem
set your Country to usa (or EU/NL)
but my problem is that i don't have a portage 'thingy' for dev-java/ibm-jdk-bin-1.5
and the dev-java/sun-jdk-1.5 is masked by something and this doesn't help
