I'm following what the handbook is telling em to do and it says to do:

USE="-doc symlink" emerge gentoo-sources

Well I did that and it tries to connect to a site to download the file. I thought it was a networkless installation? (the one I'm using anyway) is there a way around this, or something else I could try?

Are you installing 2006.0? which cd do you get?

Are you using the minimal or universal 2005.1-r1 disk? The minimal will download everything you need. The universal disc has most stages and kernels on it, so it shouldn't try to download anything.

i downloaded the installation cd and i am having the same problem?
why is this>
ive got the 2006.0 disk
