realplayer or the system sounds wont work though xmms does |
that's great it now works!
...as far as getting realplayer going I am not sure, I don't use it...the system sounds you refer to are you talking about the pc bell? if so you need to have pc speaker support compiled in the kernel, you can then change the volume and pitch using #xset b <options>. check out man xset for more information and options. | and a game i tested the demo of unreal tournament 2004 wont work with sound |

Hi there,
Sorry you're having issues with your soundcard! I've been there. Just two days ago after a nightmare 2 months trying to get my onboard nVidia card working, I disabled the card and installed a PCI SB-Audigy2 ZS refurb I purchased.
I got it working within 12 hours or so (there was an interlude for work in there). I'm not sure exactly which step I did that you did not do, but I do know I added two different sound card drivers for the emu10k1 to be compiled directly into my kernel rather than used as modules. I did *not* emerge them.
If you need to see any of the files on my now working system, let me know and I would be happy to provide them. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm not much help, since as far as I can tell your sound should be functioning correctly.
Also, take a look at the thread where I discussed this issue on this forum site.

Best of luck! |
