|

I just upgraded to the latest ~amd64 nvidia drivers. xorg loads fine, but whenever I try to run a game in fullscreen mode the entire monitor goes blank, and the game shows only in the bottom left corner of the screen. Like this:
--------
--------
XX-----
XX-----
X being where the game is showing up. The rest of the screen is black. It works fine in windows mode, but who wants to play ET in windows mode?
I have made no changes to xorg.conf, the only thing I did was update the nvidia drivers. Any got any ideas, it's rather irritiating and I can't find any mention of a similar problem in the forums.
This on on gentoo-sources-2.6.15-gentoo-r7 amd64.
Thanks in advance for the help. |

I have the same problem with latest ~x86 nvidia. Any fullscreen application will not actually show up on the full screen anymore, but in the original resolution centered on the screen with black borders all around. So far I could not find a new configuration setting / workaround. Any hints would be more than welcome.
EDIT: found this thread in the nvidia linux forum http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=67936 |

any ideas as to where we can view that actual bug? _________________ Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely unintentional side effect.

I don't know if this is public at all... even the nvidia-bugreport.sh you can run to issue bug reports does not mention any public bugtracking system, but instead an email address to send bug reports to. For me, the prior drivers work just as well, and the bug is known, so I'll just sit back and wait for the next version, which should hopefully have this bug fixed. |

I'm having the same issue with more than just openGL problems. When I run xdtv and do full screen all I see is a 64x480 box in the middle of a black background... I have no idea how to fix it.
Thanks |

Well, the obvious workaround is not to use this version of the driver. Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the next release... |

Do any of you have a 'Modes' line in xorg.conf? If not, than this might be the problem See this thread on nwnews.net.
Also a general suggestion: If you have problems with nvidia drivers, visit the nvnews forum, nvidia employees regularly post there. |
