Hello,
I have been unsuccessful in getting my liveCD to boot properly on my computer (I keep getting a message saying that the settings are out of range when gnome tries to start). It will load fine, then just come to a blank screen and my monitor will pop up a window saying 'out of range.' I have been able to use Ctrl+alt+F1 to get to the command line, and have examined the config files checking my horizontal and veritcal refresh rates. I believe I need to change these in order to get my monitor to work. However I am unsure how to do this. So I have two questions:
(1)Is it possible to adjust the refresh rates and boot into gnome from the command line on the liveCD? I have done this many times on my system, but not from a liveCD.
(2)Would I be better suited to just installing via the command line? And if this should be the case, can I just boot the liveCD, wait until I get the 'out of range' message again, then Ctrl+alt+F1 to the command line and start installing? I am conscerned that the faulty monitor/gnome session may ruin my install attempts.
Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!

Try booting using the following kernel
The code will be as follows
All you have to type when it asks for your partition type gentoo nox. This will skip the GUI environment loading up and will take you directly to the command line. _________________ The box said Windows XP or better, so I installed Linux. |
