Hi

I just made a fresh install of gentoo.
No error, everything went fine... I installed xorg7 and nvidia drivers 1.0.8756
Now when I try to start X it just gives me a black screen.
I searched the forums and found no solution...
I changed my kernel from 2.6.16 to 2.6.15 and tried different nvidia drivers with no success
(I even reverted back to xorg6.8.2)

this is what dmesg gives me when I do startx:
Code:

NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86 Kernel Module  1.0-8756  Wed Mar 29 14:26:26 PST 2006
irq 19: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)

NVRM: Xid (0002:00): 1, Channel 00000000 Method 00000000 Data 01014700

This is really starting to bug me! I have been at it for 3 days now and I can't get the thing to work!

HEEELP!!!!!

I read on the nvNews forums that this suggestion resolves this issue. This would go on the kernel command line, in your grub.conf, or equivalent.
